THE DAFFODIL PROJECT

DAFFODILS!!!   Our Rejuvenate Rohnert Park program got so big, we needed a separate webpage just to showcase this aspect of it!   Please visit our "Rohnert Park" page at left to see more exciting things we are doing for LOVE in that city!

As of January, 2009, funds were generously gifted by the Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria of Rohnert Park for 24,000 daffodil bulbs to be planted by residents, business owners, and local organizations in a wide variety of Rohnert Park public areas!

Press "Play" for a great slide show of our Daffodil Project!

The photo gallery requires at least Flash version 9.0.28.

We chose daffodils because they are a first sign of spring, of rejuvenation.

Our goal is to do this year after year after year, so that Rohnert Park becomes known as the Daffodil Capitol of Northern California...and people come from all over to see them when they are in bloom!

Not only do we hope this will encourage tourism dollars, but for more residents and businesses to move into the area as well...  :)

(Photo of our daffodils beginning to bloom on March 16, 2009, in the     "I Love Rohnert Park" image we created from 400 bulbs you will see in the slide show!)

This project was spearheaded and directed by our Director of Rejuvenation, Bob Thompson, (seen here), who brought together the Rohnert Park Economic Development Board, Chamber of Commerce, Department of Public Works, Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria, The Community Voice, The Press Democrat, and over 100 local business owners, organizations, and residents to become ONE in this volunteer bulb planting effort!

We are so grateful for the generous funds from the  Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria to make this possible, to Ron Pollastrini of Flowers by Karine for securing the bulbs at such a reasonable price, (927 Golf Course Drive, Rohnert Park, CA  94928  707-585-7508), to others who donated funding...and to all the volunteers who donated their gardening tools, topsoil, time, muscles, and planting skills to make this project happen!

We also want to thank Mike Bracewell and Laura Campbell of Public Works for also planting poppy seeds and some donated agapanthus flowers around public areas of Rohnert Park as well, to beautiful the city even more for our Rejuvenate Rohnert Park project!

We have attempted to list everyone involved below, and show "before" and "after" photos!  (If we inadvertantly left anyone out on these lists, please let us know - thanks! :)
