ERRAH VILLALON

Our previous work with Larsen's Syndrome child Mikey Markwardt (please see the "Mikey Markwardt" page at left) paid it forward to a little girl in the Philippines, Errah Villalon.

Like Mikey, Errah was born with Larsen's Syndrome, and her parents Sarah and Dexter are struggling to pay for the medical help she needs so she will one day be able to walk.

Our goal is to assist them with enough income for living so they may be able to afford surgeries and medical assistance for Errah.

Errah weighed approximately 3 pounds at birth.  She was born with both her knees and hips dislocated.  She also has a hernia, and a problem with her growth.  At one and a half years old, she only weighs approximately 13.5 pounds.

The operation necessary for her knees will cost at least 20,000 pesos, which currently is approximately $500. Errah's knees and hips will be cast after the surgeries, using steel braces. The surgery for her hips will cost far more than that, but we do not yet have the estimated amount.

For those familiar with the Philippines, the Villalons live in Barangay Isabang, Lucena City.  Errah's father, Dexter, workes as a salesclerk in a mall in their province of Quezon.

Dexter's monthly net pay is only $160 a month.  They live with Sarah's parents because they are not capable of renting a house or even a room elsewhere.  Sarah works full time as Errah's caregiver, ferrying her to doctors whenever they can afford tests.

Initially, the family was borrowing a digital camera from a neighbor, Trisha Reyes, to send us photos.  In March of 2009 Dream One World was able to send the family funds for an inexpensive digital camera so we may track Errah's progress more easily!

In the tender words of Errah's mother Sarah:

"We are very poor, and that is the sad thing about life, being broke and having a baby with such a disease that has to be cured...that is why we are hoping you can help us, help my baby, because she is so young and innocent.  I really thank you from the bottom of my heart for whatever you can do.  With love and care, Sarah"

We recently reached the $500 mark to get Errah her first surgery! Now we need donations, please, for her hip surgery and metal braces.  Many thanks to all who donated to this first step on her journey to walking freely!

Errah has yet to have her first surgery because she has been having respiratory infections and has not been able to gain enough weight to handle the anaesthesia.  The doctors have tried many things, and finally discovered that "Heraclene" makes her hungry.

DREAM ONE WORLD is currently helping to fund this medication for Errah, so that she may gain enough weight for the surgery.  We will keep you posted on her progress... Thank you for your love and donations.
